Ocean of Childhood is a poem about Shacktown. It's for Shacktowns all over our world.
Our 'Family-Epic' poem is also in process, becoming an Audio-Movie and interlinking with books from relatives, poems captured with mind-nets of memories.

"Where the poems succeed in linking memory and philosophy, they exceed the limits of personal poetry and acquire a life of their own...." Toronto Star
William Gough was raised in Newfoundland, growing up in various Outports where he traveled with his mother and father, a cottage hospital doctor.
In 1984, his father, Dr. Jim Gough, died. In 2016, his Aunt Eileen died. This book, a poem about everyday family life, is his response to their lives as children.
And now it is part of our multi-book, which will produce my father's closing words - of vital use to us all.
We've begun with an Epic Poem about the true power of people's lives. Dad's little sister in this book finished her life as an activist for Seniors' Rights, and in defence of Veteran's rights. We've published Eileen (Gough) Powell's Book of Poems as well.
This is my poem to my Father and my Aunt Eileen & the people of their lives. This magic comes from the siblings and their world. I am fortunate to be a poet who is taught by family and coworkers. Here's just one small poem about Dad and his kid-sister, Eileen.
Shinto Poem-Field: Poems for Departed Friends"
As radiation swept across the world, earth quaked, and bombs dropped, this was one poet's response - as he created a place to gather, to share stories, to seek peace. Walking into memory's snowstorm we discover how close we are to each other - all over the globe. This is the place where we remember friends and relatives.
I'll be adding to this book at the end of 2024.
