In 2025, The Terra Nova Quartet

Will become

The Terra Nova Quintet.

Throughout the decades since Maud's House was first praised, William Gough has completed the four novels that make up what he calls a Quantum Series - “The Terra Nova Quartet,” where all books stand alone, or may be read in the suggested order. It's a Quantum Narrative.  In 2026 the concluding Wrapping Novel - which may also be used as the starting book, will emerge as part of what will then become our "Terra Nova Quintet."

This cat gets to jump in different directions. All at the same time, our interconnected novels are also dendrites joining other art-forms. I'm making a Crucial Documentary from my father and mother's recorded memories.  And a series of poems to the places I worked, and where I learned everything from the Crews of CBG, CBNT, CBN and glorious 790 Bay Street where I still work in my dreams.

And in June, Gull Pond Books will be announcing the creation of  a closing Novel set in a Lesser Paradise all where our magical outport re-forms.

NEW for 2025... a new kind of expansion into a lifetime of Bill's lifelong exploration of  dendrite-expansion approaches to interlinking...well, everything results in a hub-perception of publishing.

It's, once again, time to meet the woman who began it all...

It started in 1984 with Maud's House, and will continue throughout 2025, as we  launch our multi-book expansions,

Our Audio-Movie  of the works, will be produced in 2025. In Newfoundland.

It's now 40 years  since my first novel emerged in the world, thanks to the understanding of Breakwater Books and the late Clyde Rose's discerning eye.

Maud's House

Maud Tilley  has to draw on the legendary strength of the Newfoundland woman, to discover that love can last far beyond the grave. This is the story of what happens when everyone tries to force Maud to leave her small and moonlit house.

In the twenty-five years since this novel was hailed when it first arrived, William Gough has completed The Terra Nova Quartet, where all four novels stand alone, or may be read in the suggested order (or any order you wish.) In this anniversary edition, it's time once again to meet the woman who began it all.  All my work is interconnected - and links to poems as well. More on that as the year progresses. Love combining forces with Caren Moon & Larry Mirkin & Arnie Zipursky of CCI as "Chips & Gravey" transmogrifies to the endless screen of emerging Internet growth.

We're also  now adding more interviews to wrap Dad's "Doc-U-Mentary"  Multi-Book" - it will then inter-link with unexpected areas.  All are already in place.

Now in development as an Audio-Movie, AM Sonics - Cinema without a screen.

We'll also, in our multi-book approach, be linking "Maud's House"  to our Audio Movie form as our "Audio-Movie" emerges  in an Audio Podcast of this Movie-For-The-Mind, aiming for 2025-6 production.

Please read the book first - time to enter the first door of a linked series of books.  Lucky for us that the first door already exists in  Maud's House.

Praise for ...Maud’s House
"... a literary compliment paid to a people whose richest bounty, next to the sea, is the gift of language. It is also a detailed snapshot of a lost era, lovingly developed in the darkroom of the writer’s memory. …it’s clear that the richness of language as it is spoken in Newfoundland is in Gough’s literary blood.” - Michael Harris, The Globe and Mail

Chips & Gravey

The Second Book of The Terra Nova Quartet is one of our most popular novels. It's now being adapted as a Supernaturally-Comedic exciting new series by William Gough,  Caren Moon, and Lawrence Mirkin.  We're doing this with CCI Entertainment.

A Newfoundland fry cook falls in love with the ghost of a country singer, after a lifetime of avoiding his psychic “gifts” by drinking himself into a non-psychic stupor.
Phonse Skiffington is faced with a choice:  keep living a drunken half-life or quit drinking, face his fears and find a way to consummate his love for the ghost of Susie Hopkins.
Fending off voices and visions, Phonse decides to leap back into life again – full-out, because if he doesn’t, he’ll lose the love of his life.

This remarkably funny and poetic book brings together wildly different lives and worlds for the strangest of miracles on one timeless and warped Christmas.

Praise For "Chips & Gravey"

"A magical tale of love, told with the vivid poetry of a wise, curious and passionate storyteller." Atom Egoyan

"The arrival of a new Bill Gough novel is like being told you're heading off on a wonderful surprise vacation: no idea where you're going, the only guarantee that you're going to regret when it's over.  Chips & Gravey is  Newfoundland, it's Nashville; it's real and it's surreal.  A gift from one of our best writers, a true poet with a welcome sense of old-fashioned story-telling."   Roy MacGregor-  Author – “Northern Light”

Midnight At The Mockingbird Motel

... is the Third Book of “The Terra Nova Quartet,” by William Gough

When Los Angeles begins to shake and rattle, it becomes strangely linked with the small outport of George's Cove in Newfoundland.

Maud Tilley - old enough to ignore birthdays - persuades her friends to join her on an erratic path from George's Cove to post-earthquake LA. She heads towards the domain of the pale gambler, Timmy Sullivan who waits for guests in his odd Hollywood landmark.

In his magical motel, all rooms await their chosen guests as time slows, stretches and delivers the ultimate check-in.

In The Terra Nova Quartet all books stand alone, or may be read in the suggested order.

Another Audio-Movie will be done and interconnect with this book.  Guess what....  I also have a 'Life-game'  based on this.

So many thanks to the multi-Artist and Creator Bronson Smith...his talents leapt in to interconnect this Quartet by his cover art. Check out his cover art - each painting encodes the novels/quartet in themselves.

Praise For "The Terra Nova Quartet"

"William Gough brings it...straight from the heart.  Gough is a first-rate wordsmith.  His stories flow with wit and intelligence.  His unique blend of esoteric poetry and hard-line narrative shines a bright light on the human condition.

In short, Gough is a true literary artist.  No collection of books, private or public, is complete without his extraordinary Quartet."

Michael Kanaly  – author of  “Thoughts of God,” “ Virus Clans” “The Voice Within” and “Room One”

“Spellbinding and adventurous, "This Is What I Must Remember" reveals, in flashes, and pieces, and memories, what went into the making of this brilliant writer.”
Patrick O’Flaherty -"The Hardest Christmas Ever and other stories" (Pottersfield Press, 2016)

This Is What I Must Remember is the concluding novel of the Terra Nova Quartet.

We’re familiar with the phenomenon of human reincarnation.  But what about buildings?  Objects?

In this inwardly and outwardly picaresque adventure, we get to ramble with Maud & Ern on their journey to and beyond the stars.

We join them and assorted odd travelers when the Mockingbird Motel suddenly appears on a mysterious isthmus  far away from Los Angeles.

Somewhere between ‘here’ and ‘there,’ it finds its true destiny and gathers an odd assortment of star-people and earth-beings.’
Who would have thought that the ultimate portal would turn out to be Seattle?

The "Audio Movie", will have songs.  In my Boot-Hill approach to writing, I am now setting out all the routes/roots I had, including  dreams of how I could inter-connect and enfold any number of projects by being less, well...'defined by self'

I learned this in the Gosling Library, and in conversations with all hitch-hikers, and also being one. All found a fulcrum for my  thoughts when I first encountered Phenomenology and Folk-lore thanks to MUN.

All this is based on a logic I learned from my many travels on the "Newfie Bullet" - Like The Newfie Bullet, it always stopped when anyone needed to have the train stop so they could get off. It would also brake for anyone emerging from the forest and flagging down a ride.

Oh, yes the Newfie Bullet will be interlinked later this year and in 2026 will also become part of the central hub where our Life-game runs.

All books in The Terra Nova Quartet have covers  painted by the gifted artist, Bronson Smith.
